Clare practises exclusively in the area of family law. Her busy practice involves regular instructions by numerous local authorities across South Wales in a wide range of cases. Clare has undertaken cases in the Court of Appeal and often appears in the High Court and in cases where other parties are represented by Kings Counsel.
Clare is often instructed by local authorities in public law proceedings and is known for her judgement and meticulous case preparation. Recent cases include issues such as serious non-accidental injuries (brain injuries, multiple fractures and burns), FGM, honour based violence, suspected trafficking and county lines, radicalisation, sexual abuse cases, FII and cases where there are concurrent criminal proceedings.
Clare also represents parents, Guardians, Children, interveners and prospective adopters and approaches each case with sensitivity and compassion, putting clients at ease in the most difficult and stressful of circumstances. She has experience of representing vulnerable parties requiring the assistance of the Official Solicitor or intermediaries and/ or advocates as well as appearing in DOLs and secure accommodation applications.
Clare’s practice also extends to cases involving jurisdictional issues including abduction and leave to remove applications as well as post care applications such as leave to oppose and contested adoptions.
Clare provides CPD training as a member of the Angel Chambers Family Team to local authorities and solicitors on recent developments in case law and legislation. In appropriate cases Clare will undertake cases via public access.
